National Experimental High School at the Hsinchu Science Park
Bilingual Department Admissions Regulations for 2011~2012 Entrance, 2nd semester
 
Article 1
This Admissions Regulations is based on "The Entrance Regulation for the Science Park Bilingual Schools or Departments"Article 7.
 
Article 2
The Hsinchu Science Park Unit mentioned here refers to the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park Company, Research Center, National Experimental High School and National Science Council subsidiary unit. The Company must complete the Science Park registration procedure.
 
Article 3
Admissions:
Admitted students will be placed in grades one through twelve according to ages and levels. Each class in Gr.1 to Gr.3 will have a maximum number of twenty-nine students and Gr.4 and above will have thirty students with the number of classes determined by the Ministry of Education.
 
Article 4
Qualifications:
A. The Hsinchu Science Park Unit workers who wish to enroll their children at the Bilingual Department must satisfy one of the following:
(1) A R.O.C. citizen employed from abroad. Children must have spent at least two consecutive years abroad and must not return to Taiwan for three months a year during the two year absence. To remain eligible for admission at NEHS, students must enroll before the school opening day no later than one year after their arrival in Taiwan. (Application must be filed within three years of employment in Taiwan).And must possess a Master’s degree with five years of overseas professional experience or a Ph.D.
(2) Must be a foreign employee of the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park.
(3) Must be an employee of the Science Park who was sent abroad and recalled. Children must have spent at least two consecutive years abroad and have not returned to Taiwan for more than a year (Application must be filed within three years of employment in Taiwan).
 
B. Those who qualify under the “Enrollment regulations regarding children of employees who were sent abroad and recalled by Government”.
 
C.  The Non-Hsinchu Science Park Unit Taiwanese citizen workers who wish to enroll their children at the Bilingual Department must satisfy the following requirements:
(1) Employment or residency must be based in Hsinchu City or Hsinchu County and application to the Bilingual Department must be filed within three years of employment in Taiwan.
(2) Must be employed from abroad by private or public university or colleges,
educational and research agencies, or high-tech business in the public or private sector. The definition of “high-tech business” is identified from specific regulations set by the Ministry of Economics.
(3) Must possess a Master’s degree with five years of overseas professional experience or a Ph.D.
(4) Children must have spent at least two consecutive years abroad and must not returned to Taiwan for three months a year during the two year absence. To remain eligible for admission at NEHS, students must enroll no later than one year after their arrival in Taiwan. (Application must be filed within three years of employment in Taiwan).
 
The Non-Hsinchu Science Park Unit foreign workers who wish to enroll at the Bilingual Department must satisfy the following requirements:
(1) Must be employed by a private or public university, college or academic research agency in Hsinchu.
(2) Must possess a Master’s degree with five years of professional experience or a Ph.D.
 
D. Applicants must have older siblings studying at the Bilingual Department and have spent fewer than five consecutive years in Taiwan.
 
E. Under "The  Entrance  Regulation  for  Science Park Bilingual Schools or Departments", if parents qualify for Article three, section 1, item 1 or 4, they can transfer to the school from other schools.
 
F. Children who qualify for previous item A~E and wish to enroll in first grade must be over six years old (The cut-off date is Sept. 1).  Children who are five to six years old need to comply with item 9 of the Early Admissions Regulations of Hsinchu City.
 
Article 5
Applications:
A. All that qualify for Article 4, item B must apply directly to the working place.
 
B. You may not apply for entrance while the semester is in session.
All that qualify for Article 4 (except item B) must apply directly to IBSH Administration office. (For 2011-2012 second semester entrance, please submit the application form between July 11 and July 13, 2012. 
C. Applicants who qualify under Article 4 (except item B) must submit application
fee 350 NT and the following:
(1) application form. (on the website: http://bilingual.nehs.hc.edu.tw)
(2) a certificate of entry and exit dates for applying parents from National Immigration Agency (foreign employees must submit passport copies).
(3) a certificate of entry and exit dates for children from National Immigration Agency (foreign children must submit the passport copies).
(4) a copy of your child’s school report card or transcript of the two recent years. (those applying for first and second grade must submit document that reflect past schooling)
(5) a copy of parents’ documents verification of the employment and a copy of the labor’s insurance card with company’s seal.
(6) a copy of parents’ documents verifying job experience and diplomas and a copy of “R.O.C. government issued family record”.

D. For items (2) to (6), originals of documents are required when applying, and returned after verifying. Application will not be accepted if documents are not complete.
   
Article 6
Entrance Examination:
A. The school will inform and arrange the entrance exam for the
    qualified applicants; for those who aren’t qualified, the application fee will
    not be returned.
B. Those who fail the entrance exam cannot retake it within the next six-months.
C. The English examination fee is 400 NT and Chinese examination fee is 400 NT.   All that qualify for Article 4, item D, the time of entrance examination is on June 26-27, 2012.
D. For Article 4, item A, the time of examination is on July 24-25, 2012.
E. For Article 4, item B, C and E, the time of examination is on August 7-8, 2012.
 
Article 7
 
Selection:
A. Those who do not qualify under Article 4, item (B) must take and pass an entrance examination to qualify.
B. If the number of new applicants does not exceed the maximum class size, all applicants who applied according to the above-mentioned time, procedure and regulations, and passed the required entrance examinations will be accepted.
C. In the event that applicants exceed the class size, priority selection will take place in according to Article 4, from item (A), being the first priority, to item (E), being the last consideration.  
(1) In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of vacant spaces, priority selection will take place in accordance to the following for Article 4, item A and E applicants:
a. Earned a Ph.D and has had more than three years of professional experience.
b. Earned a Master’s degree and has had more than five years of professional experience.
(2) In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of vacant spaces, a random drawing will take place for Article 4, item C or D applicants. 
 
Notes: 1. The school reserves the right to cancel admissions if the school detects any sort of dishonesty (i.e. false documents, forged identifications, etc.). Students who have entered illegally must withdraw. 
      2. In case of any discrepancies due to the translation, refer to the Chinese version.
