Dear IBSH students, teachers, staff, and parents:
I hope this mail finds everyone safe and fine on the first day of the spring break!
First of all, I would like to give a big THANK YOU to those students and parents who stayed at home to observe self-health management as requested by our school due after family members returned to Taiwan from overseas. I would also want to thank all of our teachers for providing online learning resources to the students who stayed at home. It meant a little more work for everyone involved, but with your flexibility and cooperation, everyone felt safe to come to school and we were able to keep school running on our regular schedule.
The epidemic control has completed our second week; the NEHS/IBSH Epidemic Prevention Committee and M.O.E. announced the “Notice for Epidemic Prevention during the spring break” for you to observe and we appreciate your cooperation in advance.
1.Our campus is completely closed during spring break, this includes the New Gym, the field and all courts. Please do not come to school for outdoor activities and exercise, people who violate the rules will be advised to leave.
Moving forward, the campus will be kept closed during the weekend. Only the iron net gate (between Lane 525 to the lake) will be opened with supervision by the New Gym operator.
(Decided by the NEHS/IBSH Epidemic Prevention Committee)
2. Many school activities are cancelled due to the epidemic. Since Orienteering is an outdoor activity, we are trying our best to conduct this activity with rigorous practices of epidemic prevention. Here are the precautions we will take:
1)Orienteering will take place within the area of campus and Hsinchu-Science -Park.
We will not need to ride on buses, which will shorten the time length of the activity.
2)We will check students’ body temperature before the activity.
3)We will ensure the outdoor social distance (one meter length) when gathering the
students.
4)NEHS and IBSH will have orienteering in different time slots to reduce the participants interacting at once.
5)Students will check-in at different spots with digital devices. It will be helpful for us to track
each participant's route.
6)We will disinfect each participant’s hands with medical alcohol, and request them to
wear a mask the entire time.
We passed out the participation survey to Gr. 10-12 students yesterday. With parents’ agreement, the student can participate in the activity. Students who will not join the activity may be requested to be helpers.
(The next notices come from M.O.E.)
3.Please keep the good habit of measuring body temperature everyday and washing hands frequently. A healthy schedule keeps us safer from virus. Any teacher or student who feels illness or who has confirmed a case of COVID-19, please report to the Sanitation Coordinator, Ms. Savannah Lee (savannah@ibsh.tw) or Dean Yichi Chu (yichi@ibsh.tw) through email. We have to follow up with the M.O.E. safety system.
4.All teachers and students are not allowed to go abroad without specific approval from the M.O.E. in advance. We discourage all school community members from attending any crowded places. Please record your activities, routes, and as many details as you can in your records in case they are requested for an epidemic investigation.
5.We discourage the school community members from going to any crowded places. If you participate in any assembly, please evaluate the risk of the event (such as participants, time length, location, etc.)
6.Please avoid the gathering with relatives and friends who recently returned from overseas, and those who are going through home-quarantine, home-isolation and self-health management.
If you have family members (living in the same house) returning from overseas recently, please inform the Dean by email, so we can keep our monitoring of the community and also arrange online learning for your child(ren).
Thank you all for your cooperation and we hope with everyone following the notices of epidemic prevention, we may continue to keep our school safe and healthy.
May everyone have a healthy and happy spring break!
Sincerely,
Yichi Chu,
Dean of IBSH
